Gutter FAQ

Answers before you call.

Common questions about gutters, downspouts and cleaning.

Why do I need gutters?

Properly installed gutters carry water away from your fascia, soffit, siding and foundation. That helps prevent rot, soil erosion around the foundation, and the mold and insects that come with standing water.

Where do I need gutters on my home?

A professional inspection is the best way to tell. As a rule, any roofline that runs parallel to the ground can benefit from gutters.

Where will the downspouts go?

Usually near the corners of the house and about every 25–30 linear feet, adjusted for your landscaping and the layout of your home.

What are my options?

The standard is 5" K-style seamless aluminum with 2x3" downspouts. You can upgrade to 6" gutters with 3x4" downspouts, or choose half-round gutters with round downspouts — in more than 30 colors.

How often should I clean my gutters?

It depends on the season and how many trees are around your home. We recommend a professional inspection once a year, and leaf screens can cut down on cleaning.
